Unani medicines are a popular choice in Southern Asia. The term means a Greek medicine. The Graeco-Arabic medicine bases the study of diseases and wellness on the combination of the four basic elements like the Earth, Air, Water and Fire with the four humors of the body namely Blood, Phlegm, Yellow Bile and Black Bile. The Unani methods of healing work through the Regimental therapy, Pharmacotherapy and sometimes the Surgery for complex cases.

Regimental therapy is given in the form of change of climate, lifestyle habits or a relaxing massage, cupping, leaching or a therapy with diet changes. For impotence, exercises which strengthen the abdomen is recommended and certain aphrodisiac foods like Garlic, Ginger, etc., are recommended for consumption.

Pharmacotherapy uses herbs or medicines extracted from animals or minerals to treat the condition. Aphrodisiac herbs such as Asparagus, Leek, Cyprian Reed were used centuries ago to treat impotence in men. Asparagus or Shatavari is recommended in Vajikarana Shastra in Ayurveda for treating infertility related illness.
