Varicocele – Is it Linked to Male Infertility

Male infertility is on the rise owing to many psychological, physical and social contributing factors faced by the man of today. Other than STDs, STIs, ED, and other sexual disabilities which cause infertility or affect sexual performance in men, there are few conditions like the Varicocele which may sometimes be attributed to unknown infertility or lead to poor performance.

What is varicocele?

This condition is similar to the varicose veins observed on the legs. The veins which run through the scrotum are enlarged as in legs and this swelling sometimes restricts the mobility of sperms and hence affects the sperm count. The popular option to treat a severe form of this condition is a surgery. But, it is not guaranteed that following surgery this condition will not reappear. Also, there is no guarantee that the problem with sperm count and mobility will be tackled effectively. This point is a question of debate among the conventional and alternative medicine experts.

Is Treatment necessary for Varicocele?

Surgery is the only option for cases of extreme varicocele as advocated by the conventional medicine experts. A small degree of enlargement is usually not recommended for treatment. One should avoid getting a surgery done when the degree of varicocele is small and risk a chance of contracting the post-surgery infection. Hence, it is good to know what are symptoms which are considered worse and prompt for a surgery. Also, taking a second opinion before agreeing to a surgery is a prudent thing to do.

One should seek medical help if

There is a persistent pain in the veins spread through scrotum causing constant inconvenience or affecting regular activities.

Sometimes the pain is very sharp and restricts all normal activities.

Is surgery the only option?

Alternate medicine experts who believe in the science of Ayurveda, differ from opinion regarding surgery as a treatment for severe varicocele. In fact, the potency of herbs from this branch of healing has been proved, documented and approved for publishing in the International Journal of Research in Ayurveda for treating Oligospermia with Chlorophytum Borivilianum and Tribulus Terrestris. The Ayurveda recognises three sub-divided applied sciences in the form of Vajeekarana, Rasa Shastra and the Rasayana Shastra. By using any of the three methods in conjunction or in a singular form of medicine, every kind of ailment can be cured. Finding the fundamental reason behind the problem helps segregate it to relevant applied science for treatment.
