What Is Lowered Libido?

Lowered libido is defined by reduced sexual desire or absence of desire for sex. This reduction may vary according to person’s scale of measuring sexual gratification. When few men seem to think their activity to be scarce, others may be gratified and happy with it. This variation manifests because it is a hormone based response in a body. When the testosterone levels are balanced and normal, sexual desire tends to stay normal.

What can lower libido?

Factors which lower men’s libido include

Physical conditions such as consumption of too much opioid analgesics, anti-androgens, SSRIs, recreational drugs and other interfering medications, indulgence in alcohol, fatigue, hypoactive sexual issues, dysfunctional problems, systemic disorders, testosterone imbalances, and other hormone related problems.

Psychological factors like depression, past trauma of sexual abuse, stress and aversion to sex.

General factors like the stress of handling relationships and having no time for sexual pleasures.

How do I know I have lowered libido?

The person shows no interest in a sexual act and defers the initiation process. Upon successful initiation, inability to attain or maintain an erection may also be termed as lowered libido. When this kind of erectile dysfunction shows up suddenly without early symptoms, it can be attributed to psychogenic factors. A person should identify if the lowered libido is a new development or an old persistent problem since the onset of sexual relations.
