It&#8217;s the body&#8217;s way of reacting to chemical changes. When a person is sexually aroused, small blood vessels in the penis get bigger. When blood fills up three tubes of soft tissue called the corpus cavernosum and corpus spongiosum, an erection happens. When the man ejaculates or loses interest, the blood drips away, and the penis goes back to its normal size and shape.<\/p>\n<h2>How Long do erections last?<\/h2>\n<p>A man&#8217;s erection can last anywhere from a few minutes to about 30 minutes. On average, men have five erections a night while they sleep, and each one lasts about 25 to 35 minutes (NHS, 2018). Does that mean that every time you get an erection, it should last that long?
