The Pelvic Inflammatory disease<\/strong> is a common condition affecting the pelvic organs of the women<\/strong>. An infection to these organs causes inflammation and fever in most cases. About 1 million women in the US are known to suffer from PID each year. This STD <\/a><\/strong>is prominent in cases where the woman has a history of Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Most cases of PID are unnoticed until the infection has affected the important reproductive organs. This is so because very slight fever and vaginal discharge are commonly ignored by women.<\/p>\n

Other bacterial infection<\/strong>s or viral or bacterial entry into the vagina of a woman may also cause PID. The sexually transmitted diseases are known to increase the risk of contracting PID. Women known to have multiple sex partners are at a greater risk of developing PID. The bacteria upon entry affects the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and the cervix. Complications of PID are severe when left untreated.<\/p>\n
