In many cases, the fibroids are unnoticed unless a pelvic or abdomen scan is conducted. The small-sized noncancerous fibroids are not a botheration large myomas which seem to be growing due to the influence of estrogen may sometimes cause problems in conception. When the tumors are cancerous the complications of contracting uterine cancer are increased for the woman.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966;\">What are the symptoms?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Heavy <strong>menstrual cramps<\/strong> should never be ignored by a woman. A pelvic or abdomen scan may be recommended by the gynecologist when severe cramps are reported to check for the growth of fibroids. Some of the common symptoms which indicate the presence of fibroids include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">The presence of a firm mass near the pelvis is a sign of abnormal growth which requires a doctor diagnosis to be conducted.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">Bleeding in between the menstrual cycles may also be an indication of fibroids. Bleeding after a sexual intercourse may be a sign of an infection. In short abnormal bleeding should be reported to your healthcare immediately.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">Anemia, pelvic pain, lower back pain, heavy or abnormal bleeding during menstruation and frequent urge to urinate are some common symptoms which are ignored by the women as general debility.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966;\">What to expect in a diagnosis?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A pelvic examination is conducted by your gynecologist to ascertain the presence of tumors. The tumors are easily recognized as an irregular mass in the pelvic region. Additionally, the doctor may also prescribe one of the following diagnostic procedure for a clearer picture.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">An MRI to have a look at the internal organ structure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">X-ray or transvaginal ultrasound may also be recommended by certain doctors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"en-US\">When cervical fibroids are suspected, a hysteroscopy is recommended to get a clear view of the cervix and the uterus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #339966;\">What are the treatment options available?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While most diagnostic procedures seem to be non-invasive, the treatment modes may sometimes include invasive surgeries to remove cancerous growths. From prescription drugs which help deal with pain to surgeries like hysterectomy, myomectomy, etc., there are many treatment options available for dealing with fibroids.<\/p>\n<p>Every type of treatment will have permanent side effect arising due to it. For example, the anti-hormonal drugs may hamper your hormonal balance further and cause other complications to appear.
